Foodland reopens renovated Market City store

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Foodland Super Market celebrates its 60th anniversary with a grand re-opening of it's Market City store.

The store, undergoing renovations since November 2007, was the first modern supermarket to open in Hawaii in 1948.

Completely redesigned and remodeled, the nearly 28,000 square foot store will now include The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at its front entrance.

"My family opened Foodland Market City 60 years ago to serve the people of Hawaii and today we continue to be dedicated to providing our loyal customers to this store with the finest shopping experience in the islands," said Jenai Wall, Foodland Chairman and CEO.

Many of the departments have expanded their services.  Remodeled deli, meat and seafood departments will provide fresh, made-to-order specialities as well as ready-to-cook items for busy customers.

A special event to celebrate the occasion will take place Friday, July 25 at Foodland Market City on Harding Avenue in Honolulu.  The grand opening festivities will follow during the weekend.
