MAILI (KHNL) - Another Oahu pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car while walking in a marked crosswalk.

The Medical Examiner is still working to positively identify the victim.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, which happened on Farrington Highway in Maili at about 10:30 pm Monday. Police say a car, driven by a 24-year-old man, plowed into the male pedestrian, severing his left leg.

No one in the car was hurt.

Twenty-seven people have now died on Oahu's roadways this year, compared to 40 at this time last year.
