KANEOHE (KHNL) - Investigators believe speed is a factor in a crash that killed a pedestrian in Windward Oahu Thursday night.

It happened on Kamehameha Highway near the Kaneohe Market just before 10 pm. Police say a 55-year-old man was in a marked crosswalk when a van plowed into him.

The Medical Examiner identified the victim, but isn't releasing his name yet.

Investigators say alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash.

This is the 26th traffic death this year, compared to 40 at this time last year.
