Hawaii-based soldier killed in Iraq

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KHNL) - A Hawaii-based soldier, supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in Iraq.

The Department of Defense says 22-year-old Spc. William L. McMillan III of Lexington, Ky., died July 8 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his patrol was struck by an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
