HONOLULU (KHNL) - It's a million dollar mystery.

A millionaire, who splits his time between Hawaii and Colorado, has vanished. His wife is concerned about his physical and mental well-being.

He's described by his wife as a sweet and wonderful man who loved fishing and hiking. But in April, everything changed.

"He's very paranoid. He thinks everyone on the island is out to get him," Candis Thomas, missing man's wife, said. "And he thinks that the military is involved. He thinks that aliens are involved."

She says her husband, Steven Thomas, 36, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Now, the millionaire software designer -- who has homes in Lanikai and Boulder, Colorado -- is missing.

"I've never felt like this before," his wife said. "I'm so distraught."

Family members say they last saw him at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Waikiki June 30th. Four days earlier, he told his wife he needed space and was going to stay with his mother.

"He was with his mother and cousin in Waikiki and said he was going to the bathroom and never came back," Candis Thomas said.

She says in April, doctors recommended medication, but her husband refused. She describes him as being agitated before his disappearance.

"He was talking a lot about the Iraq war. He was talking a lot about 9-11," she said. "He was checking his stocks and just, he was financially, he was like, he was doing, he was not doing well."

She says she wants her husband of five years to return home, so he can get the help he needs.

"I'm just sick all over my body," she said. "I feel like I'm just, I feel like I've lost everything that's important to me."

If you see Steven Thomas, police ask that you not approach him. Instead, call Crimestoppers at 955-8300.
