Cessna wreckage is removed

PAHALA, Big Island (KHNL) - The National Transportation Safety Board removed the wreckage of a Cessna 172 from a heavily forested area on the Big Island Friday morning.

The Island Hoppers plane went down on June 17 between Pahala and Nahalehu.

The tragic plane crash resulted in the deaths of the pilot and two passengers.

A massive search that took six days to locate the missing plane ended on Sunday June 22.

Now that the plane has been recovered NTSB investigators say it may take a year or longer to complete their investigation into the cause of the crash.
