Bellows Beach closed for military exercises

WAIMANALO (KHNL) - Bellows Field Beach Park will be closed to the public from June 27-29, due to the military's 21st Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC). The event takes place in Hawaii every two years.

This weekend out in the water off of Bellows, the world's largest maritime exercises will begin being conducted. Ten nations including Australia,Canada, Chile, Japan, Netherlands, Peru, Republic of Korea, Singapore, United Kingdom and the U.S. will be taking part in massive military exercises. Together their mission is to ensure stability throughout the Pacific Rim, approximately 35 ships, 6 submarines and 150 aircraft will be used.

The beach park will be open to the public for the Fourth of July weekend but will be closed again July 18-21.
