HONOLULU (KHNL) - New state laws could make it easier and cheaper to live in Hawaii.

Governor Linda Lingle announces she will cut next year's fiscal budget.

It's part of the Lingle Administration's 4% restriction on spending for all State departments.

That amounts to $33 million.

Officials say it's to help balance and safeguard Hawaii's budget.

The 2009 fiscal year begins July first.

Governor Lingle also signs a new bill into law.

Act 2002 allows tax payers who file electronically, to designate up to three accounts for their tax refunds.

The measure also requires the Department of Taxation to continue assisting low-income communities with their taxes.
