HECO seeks to add 100 megawatts of renewable energy for Oahu

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Hawaiian Electric Company is looking for developers interested in supplying additional renewable energy to Oahu's power grid.

The company has issued a formal Request for Proposals, asking bidders to provide up to 100 megawatts of renewable energy.

The additional energy will complement existing resources on Oahu, including the H-Power waste-to-energy plant and the new Campbell Industrial Park plant.

Responses are due by September 25, 2008.
