KANEOHE (KHNL) - The family of a man accused in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Kaneohe earlier this week is apologizing to the victim's family.

Investigators say a car veered onto a sidewalk along Kamehameha Highway and rear-ended a bicycle. The bicyclist, 63-year-old Kenzie Thompson of Kaneohe, died from his injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the car, 85-year-old William Alo, a few blocks away.

"We wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to the Thompson family. We cannot begin to express how profoundly saddened we are by this week's tragic event. We know there is nothing we can say to help ease your pain, but we do share in your sadness and grief. We want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers and we are truly sorry," the Alo family said.
