WAILEA, Maui (KHNL) - The 2008 Maui Film Festival at Wailea came to a successful close. The event, now in its ninth year, was held from June 11-15.
The scenic views of Maui served as a backdrop to some of the best American independent films.
The festival also featured cultural events, tributes, filmmaker panels and celebrities like Pierce Brosnan, Dennis Quaid, Felicity Huffman and Virginia Madsen.
More than 20,000 people attended the festival and voted on their favorite films.
Some of this year's award winners include: Summerhood for best Comedy Feature, The Human Experience for best Documentary Feature and Hot Dog for best Animation.
