Governor to sign new laws to improve Hawaii's harbors

HONOLULU (KHNL) - There will be new laws governing the way Hawaii does business with the mainland and Asia.

Governor Linda Lingle will sign a bill into law that will improve and expand Hawaii's harbors.

The measure will allow the state to begin its "harbors modernization plan."

Commercial harbors and facilities will be updated for increased ocean transportation through 2030.

About 98% of Hawaii's imported goods pass through our harbors.
