Kula state forest reserve, Polipoli state park closed for repairs

KAHULUI, Maui (KHNL) - The Department of Land and Natural Resources will close the Kula state forest reserve and Polipoli state park for repairs to the forest access road from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20.

The repairs are part of a two-year effort to restore damaged areas in the forest reserve.
Work was completed last week to increase the width of the cement crossing and repair a headwall.

Officials say closures are necessary due to anticipated movement of heavy equipment and trucks on the narrow one-land access road.

The reserve will reopen on Saturday June 21 at 6 a.m.

The project cost is $249,000 and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2008.
