Hawaii Red Cross volunteers deploy to Midwest disasters

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Two Hawaii Red Cross volunteers are leaving to the Midwest to join the American Red Cross relief efforts in response to storms that have spawned tornadoes and caused serious flooding across six states.

Esther Lau of Honolulu will head to Wisconsin to provide health services to victims of the disaster.

Tom Worthing of Maui will go to the relief operation in Indiana where he will help ensure facilities where disaster victims go for aid.

Relief efforts are already underway in Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Workers are ready to respond in Illinois, Michigan and West Virginia as the situation develops.

More than one thousand Red Cross workers are deployed throughout the widespread area.
