Truck spills mess on H-1 freeway

PEARL CITY (KHNL) -- Traffic on the H-1 Freeway was backed up near Pearl City Monday morning after a truck accidentally opened, spilling gravel and some tar across the freeway.

It happened at about 11:15 a.m. on the two center lanes on H-1 westbound.

Honolulu police shut down the lanes until City clean-up crews could clear up the mess.

The lanes were re-opened around 12:30 in the afternoon.

The truck belonged to CJ Peterson Services.

The incident was classified as an accident and no citations were given.
