OAHU (KHNL) -- Seven Hoala School students received top honors in their grade division in the Mokuchi Okada Association children's painting contest,"Beauty Through the Eyes of Our Children."

MOA received over 400 entries from the Leeward and Central Oahu school districts. Four paintings per grade level (K-6) were selected. 

The Hoala School winners are:

Zoe Golonka (kindergarten), Sol Kitabayashi (kindergarten), Risa Askerooth (grade 4), Gabriel Brumage (grade 5), Dominic Balmilero (grade 5), Austin Kanamu (grade 6) and Sarah Balmilero (grade 6).

MOA's philosphy on the mission of art is "to elevate one's awareness, to enrich one's daily life so it is pleasurable and meaningful."

The winning paintings will be on display at the State exhibition on June 7-14 at the Academy Art Center at Linekona, Honolulu Academy of Arts.
