HONOLULU (KHNL) -- An Oahu judge on Monday declared a mistrial in the case against a man accused of torching his girlfriend.

After three-and-a-half days of deliberations, jurors deciding the fate of Kim Massey say they're unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

Massey is charged with attempted murder and arson.

Firefighters rushed to a house in Honokai Hale two years ago. Investigators say Massey poured gasoline on his girlfriend and set her on fire during an argument over money.

The defendant testified it was an accident.

A new trial is set to begin in September.
