Black Pot Beach Park to Close for Clean Up

HANALEI, Kauai (KHNL) -- Black Pot Beach Park will be closed for two weeks starting May 15 for clean up and repair work on the park's septic system.

Park officials say the septic system was installed in 1990 and needs to be upgraded.

The major portion of the work is expected to be completed by the end of May.

During the closure, north shore residents will participate in a community workday at the park.

Community groups Hanalei Community Association and the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay will also help on the park beautification project.

Last Friday, the state Board of Land and Natural Resources issued a right-of-entry to the county, transferring the management and enforcement of the accreted land at Black Pot Beach to the county for recreational purposes.
