Woman Accused of Setting Up Deadly Drug Heist Appears in Court

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A Hawaii Kai woman accused of setting up a drug-related robbery that left a California man dead appeared before an Oahu judge Monday.

Twenty-two-year-old Rihanna Valentino is charged with kidnapping and robbery. Her bail is set at $1 million.

Twenty-seven-year-old Benjamin Grajeda was gunned down in front of horrified witnesses on Kaneohe Bay Drive last May. Police arrested Jerrico Lindsey and William Freeman in connection with the deadly shooting.

Investigators say Valentino set up the heist, telling the suspects that Grajeda had a large amount of money and drugs at his home.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
