Trial Begins For Man Accused of Setting Girlfriend On Fire

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Trial is underway for a Leeward Oahu man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire.

Attorneys delivered opening statements in the case against Kim Massey Wednesday. He's charged with attempted murder and arson.

Firefighters responded to a house fire on Waiomea Street in Honokai Hale two years ago.

Investigators say Massey and his girlfriend were arguing over money. The defendant is accused of pouring gasoline on the woman and setting her on fire.
