City Council to Vote on Rail Transit System

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- By the end of the day, Honolulu may finally have a rail transit system plan in place.

Wednesday, the Honolulu City Council hopes to make a final vote on a type of rail transit system.

The choices for the $3.7 billion project include: a rubber tire system, Monorail, Magnetic levitation or steel on steel.

They deferred the vote last week because all of the members weren't present.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann favors the steel on steel system.
