MOANALUA (KHNL) -- Some Moanalua kids got into the spirit of Earth Day, by recycling with worms!

This is Donovan and Camryn Lee. They're here with their handful of composting worms bought from Waikiki Worms. The worms divert waste from Oahu's landfill by promoting on-site vermicomposting.

This is Cammy tending to the worms that live in that pot. The worms are great for the environment. To learn more about them, there's a workshop Saturday at Mylene's Floral in Waipio.

Saturday, April 26, 8 a.m - 2 p.m.

Mylene's Floral - Ka Uka Blvd, Waipio (Around the bend from Costco by Good Year Tires) Mylene strives to be a zero-waste business, reducing, reusing, and recycling nearly everything! She carries a lot of earth-friendly items in her store as well as our Can-O-Worms. Waikiki Worm will hold a tent sale in the parking lot on April 26th to celebrate Earth Day - come by and get your Mini-Bin and starter worm colony for only $20. There will be a demonstation of the Can-O-Worms system, garden worms, vermicast and books, and other wormy items.
