MANOA (KHNL) -- There's a first time for everything, and for the first time in school history, a University of Hawaii head football coach is holding a football clinic for other football coaches.
It might be the best investment any football coach can make.
For only $10, a coach can spend an entire day with Greg McMackin and his staff, learning the fundamentals of coaching.
"It's our way of starting off a relationship with the coaches, and getting to know the coaches and like I said, just exchange ideas and we're really excited about it," said McMackin.
It's also one of Coach's Mack's ways to keep more local talent right here in the islands.
"I think one of the important things is to really have a close relationship between the coaches, we want to keep the players here so we want the coaches to know what kind of program we have," McMackin said.
It's not just high school coaches Mcmackin is targeting either. He hopes Pop Warner coaches, Junior Varisty coaches and even Flag Football coaches will attend.
"That's where guys learn the fundamental and techniques and basics of the game," he said.
Coach Mack also adds, he'll impart any football knowledge he has that can help a coach out.
"We will always open our books to anybody in Hawaii because there are no secrets in football," he said. "The players are the secret in football."
And it's no secret why Coach Mack is trying so hard to unify the football community.
