Skybus Airlines Shuts Down Operations

COLUMBUS, Ohio (KHNL) -- Another airline shuts down operations.  This time it's Skybus Airlines, a Columbus carrier known for its $10 airfares.

The airlines announced Friday that it will no longer be in business on Saturday and all flights are canceled.

Skybus has about 450 employees.  The airlines was making 80 daily flights to 15 cities across the U.S.

Skybus blames rising jet fuel costs and a slowing economic environment as its reasons to cease operations.

Skybus is the third airline to close in one week.  Aloha Airlines closed its doors on March 31, ATA Airlines ended operations three days later.
