Governor Lingle's Mother Passes Away

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Governor Linda Lingle's mother, Mildred Cutter, passed away Monday.

Governor Lingle is currently on the mainland.  Her return date has not yet been determined.

Lt. Governor James Aiona is serving as acting governor in her absence.

Private services will be held on the mainland.

Senate President Colleen Hanabusa issued the following statement on the passing of the governor's mother:

"Personally, and on behalf of my colleagues in the Senate, I would like to offer our deepest condolences to Governor Linda Lingle on the passing of her mother, Mildred Cutter. All of us in Hawai'i know and respect the particular importance of family. We are keeping the governor and her family in our thoughts at this difficult time."
