Well Known Hawaii Doctor Dies

HONOLULU (KHNL/ K5) -- This buzz shot is of the late Mitsuo 'Jim' Hattori, PhD. The well known doctor died February 25, 2008. He worked at Kapiolani Medical Center for 40 years. He was one of the first in his field of pediatric anesthesiology in Hawaii. Doctor Hattori was also an assistant clinical professor in the department of surgery at UH's John A. Burns School of Medicine.

He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 45 years, Marit; son Eric; daughter Tami; son-in-law John; and two grandchildren, Jade and Robin. "His dedication and love for medicine was evident everyday," said son Eric. "My dad helped many Hawaii and South Pacific children who needed anesthesia in the last 40 years. We love him and thank him for his service to the people and children of Hawai'i."

His memorial service is on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 3 p.m. The family requests you wear casual attire.
