MANOA (KHNL) -- Former University of Hawaii associate athletics director Jim Donovan is being recommended for the schools' vacant athletic director job.
Donovan's name is on the agenda for the Board of Regents meetings next week. The recommendation comes from Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw. The board must approve the move before making it official.
Donovan is currently executive director of the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, and K5 color analyst for Warrior football games.
He served as UH's associate athletics director under Hugh Yoshida, and played at Hawaii from 1981-1982.
Hinshaw recommended the appointment run from March 13, 2008 to March 12, 2013.
Former athletics director Herman Frazier was released from his contract January 8th, a day after June Jones announced he was leaving as Warriors head coach to coach at Southern Methodist University.
