PETA Calls for Court-Martial of Soldiers Involved in Apparent Puppy-Killing Incident

KANEOHE BAY (KHNL) -- PETA is calling for a thorough investigation into the incident regarding an online video depicting a soldier, possibly stationed at the Marine Corps Base, tossing what appears to be a puppy off a cliff in Iraq.

PETA contacted a commanding officer at MCBH Wednesday morning, asking for those responsible to be court-martialed.

"The men shown in this video are a disgrace to their unit and their country," says PETA Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. "The suspects' deplorable action, regardless of whether the puppy was dead or alive, is conduct unbecoming of a Marine-or any decent human being, for that matter. The Marine Corps must take swift and vigorous action in response to this incident and establish a zero-tolerance policy for cruelty to animals by those serving our nation."

PETA officials say they have received countless emails and phone calls regarding the video.  Many of the complaints have come from military personnel.
