HECO and IBEW Reach Contract Agreement

HONOLULU (KHNL) --  Hawaiian Electric Company and its subsidiaries, Maui Electric Company and Hawaii Electric Light Company, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have reached a settlement on a labor contract.

The union employees at the three companies have voted to ratify a new contract that will extend through October 31, 2010.

The previous contract expired on October 31, 2007, but had been extended as negotiations continued.
