WAILUA HOMESTEADS, Kauai (KHNL) -- A 46-year-old woman received minor injuries Monday afternoon when the truck she was driving overturned and spilled a load of untreated raw sewage.
Police say the woman was driving a septic truck on Kainahola Road between Kainahola Reservoir and the Kapaa Poi Factory at about noon when she lost control of the truck, causing the truck to roll onto its side and spilling the raw sewage.
It is not known exactly how much spilled on the roadway, but the truck had been filled with about 3,200 gallons of sewage.
Police, fire and Hazmat crews responded to the incident.
Kainahola Road was closed for more than an hour.
The woman was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
Police believe speed is a possible factor in this incident.
