Foul Odor Not Immediate Threat to People

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Honolulu fire officials confirmed the smelly tank found in Kalihi Kai does not pose an immediate threat to people.

Employees at Atlas Brake and Auto Repair say they reported the foul odor Sunday. They say the odor came from a nearby construction site and not from Atlas Brake.

Hazmat crews ran some tests and determined it was transformer oil.

The State has stepped in to make sure the hazardous material doesn't spill and harm the environment.
