Maui Television Calling All Students for Young Reporters Camp

KAHULUI (KHNL) -- A media camp for students is back by popular demand.  Akaku: Maui Community Television brings back media training to young and budding journalists.

Students will learn what it takes to become "Youth Reporters" for the Maui Daily, Akaku's latest community-based news program.

"Our previous Young Reporters Media Camp was a great success and proved to be an enriching opportunity for young people who are interested in serving their community through their media skills," says Akaku education director Sara Tekula. "Young people are some of the most valuable witnesses to current events and happenings around Maui. Their perspectives will diversify the Maui Daily programming and attract more young viewers to the show."

Akaku is accepting applications until March 5 and will select up to 10 students to attend the week long camp from March 17 - 21.

Tuition is $200.  Need-based scholarships will be available.

To apply, call 871-5554 or email Sara Tekula at sara@akaku.org.

To apply online, click on the Akaku link.
