DCCA Announces Lemon Law Results for 2007

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs says Hawaii's Lemon Law program helped consumers get replacement vehicles and more than $490,000 in 2007.

The State Certified Arbitration Program handled 66 cases in 2007.

Both Toyota and Honda had low numbers of lemon law complaints compared to their market shares. 

Toyota had a market share of 30% and received five complaints.  Honda had a market share of 14.5% and received five complaints.

Ford and General Motors had higher numbers of lemon law complaints compared to their market shares. 

Ford had a market share of 8.9% and received 12 complaints.  General Motors had a market share of 8.8% and received 12 complaints.
