American Red Cross Responds to Flood Victims

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- The American Red Cross continues to respond to flood victims on the Big Island and on Kauai.

Disaster assessment teams visited the areas where some of the heaviest rainfall occurred.

The ARC provided emergency aid to four Hilo area families whose homes sustained flood damage.

A total of 23 people received essential items such as clothing, food and bedding.

Red Cross staff opened a shelter Tuesday morning at Aunty Sally's Luau House in Hilo.  A shelter was also opened Monday night at the Kaumakani Neighborhood Center on Kauai.
