Cooking For The Love of It!

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A new cooking series in Honolulu has foodies cooking "For The Love Of It!" How'd you like to get into the kitchen of a gourmet restaurant? Now you can. Chef Mavro, through Gourmet Cooking Hawaii, is holding quarterly cooking classes this year for groups of 15 people.

George 'Chef Mavro' Mavrothalassitis holds the prestigious James Beard award, considered the Oscar of the culinary arts in America. He gives kitchen tips and recipies off his seasonal menu. It's two hours of optional hands-on cooking experience filled with practical tips and memorable stories.

Classes start off in the kitchen, but end up around a lunch table with the chef and his staff (Kevin Chong, chef de cuisine and Hiromi Okura, pastry chef.) This was one of the items off this weekend's menu: seared ahi. Classes are limited to 15 students and are scheduled on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 5, July 19, and November 8, 2008.
