Maui Parks Staying Open Later

WAILUKU (KHNL) -- Several beach parks in Kihei and Wailea will be staying open later.

Park officials say the later hours will allow people adequate time to enjoy the sunset on the beach.

The new closing time is now 8:00 p.m., extending the park use by one hour. It applies to the following parks:

Maipoina, Kalepolepo, Waipuilani, Charley Young, Cove Park, Kamaole I,II and III, Keawakapu, Polo Beach, Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, Makena Landing, Makena Comfort Station I & II, Keonekai and Kilohana.

The remaining parks in South Maui, including Maui Raceway, Hale Piilani, Haycraft and Poolenalena will continue to close at 7:00 p.m.

Kalama and Kenolio Parks will continue to close at 10:00 p.m.
