Whistleblower Awarded $3 Million Against City

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A Circuit Court jury awarded $3,050,025 to a woman who claimed she was wrongfully terminated by the City & County of Honolulu.

Nancy Olipares said she worked for the City for 18 years when Michael Amii, Director of the City's Department of Community Services and a former member of Mayor Harris' cabinet fired her.

Olipares sued the City claiming she had been wrongfully terminated in violation of Hawaii Whistleblower Protection Act and in violation of public policy.
