HPU Professor Publishes New Historical Book

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A Hawaii Pacific University History professor recently published a new historical nonfiction book.

Dr. Jon Thares Davidann's book Cultural Diplomacy in U.S.-Japanese Relations presents a study of unofficial diplomacy from 1919 to 1941, addressing the causes in the path to World War II.

The book examines cultural perceptions on both sides, the pivotal role of public opinion and the deterioration of Japanese-American relations on both the individual and cultural levels.
