Police Arrest Man Accused of Molesting Girl on Hawaiian Flight

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A recent flight from Oahu to Arizona, ended with police officers arresting one of the passengers.

The Hawaiian Airlines flight left Honolulu for Phoenix last Thursday.

A 13-year-old girl told authorities she was sexually assaulted by a passenger seated next to her.

Officers arrested 40-year-old Shawn Michael Cole when the plane landed in Phoenix.

An airline spokesman released this statement:

"This incident is disturbing to all of us.   As soon as our crew became suspicious that something wasn't right between these two customers, they separated them and made arrangements to have law enforcement meet the flight.   The man was taken into custody on arrival, and we hope he will be held accountable for his actions.   The company has offered its help to the FBI in its investigation of the incident."

Hawaiian says the victim was traveling with a parent, but at some point, one of them moved several rows away.
