HONOLULU (KHNL) -- How can you "Lose to Win"? Easy. Join the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii's upcoming fitness challenge. People are weighing in right now at the Honolulu Club, in preparation for the 6-week event. This year, Honolulu Club is sponsoring the Lose to Win.
After you log your original weight, you set a goal weight and then, you can exercise your way towards that goal. Start collecting pledges and sponsors to help drive you to lose those extra pounds from the holidays. Prizes will be awarded to the individual group with the highest percentage lost as well as special prize to the participant who collects the most pledges. All proceeds will benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii.
"Do things like get active, go out, walk half a mile or a mile, or join a gym like the Honolulu Club," said Suzanne Miller of the National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii. "You will reduce your risk of chronic kidney disease, as well as diabetes, hypertension and a number of other life-threatening conditions."
Lose to Win kicks off on January 22 and ends on March 8. It will culminate at the Gift of Life Festival at the Kapio'lani Community College from 7:30 a.m. to noon. The festival is a celebration of life that will include the Lose to Win weigh-out, a one and a half mile fun walk, healthy cooking and exercise demonstrations, and free Kidney Early Detection Screenings (KEDS).
Be sure to bring your appetites and enjoy a healthy brunch prepared by the KCC Culinary Arts Department. March is National Kidney Awareness Month
