HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Honolulu Police say they have located the mother of a toddler who was thrown to his death Thursday on Oahu.
The young boy plunged to his death, after being thrown onto the lanes below a freeway pedestrian overpass.
This disturbing crime happened around 11:45 a.m. in a very busy part of Honolulu - just a couple of miles from the State Capitol and the Queens Medical Center.
The crime scene was located just before the H-1 freeway on ramp to the Pali Highway.
23-year old suspect Matthew Higa is at the Honolulu Police cellblock.
Sources tell us that Higa and the toddler's mother are not related, but they are acquaintances.
The young victim is just shy of being two-years-old.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office says they have not yet positively identified him.
