Haleakala National Park Acquires 4,100 Acres of Campbell Land

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Haleakala National Park has a new addition. One of the largest undeveloped tracts on Maui is now part of the park.

The land, known as Nuu Ranch, has been under Campbell ownership for more than a century.

It provides critical habitat for rare birds and animals and includes several important Hawaiian cultural sites.

The new land now expands the park by 4,100 acres from the rim of Haleakala crater to the south coast of Kaupo.
