Hawaii Student Delegates to Annual Youth Program Announced

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KHNL) -- Two high school students will spend a week in Washington D.C. studying about U.S. government this spring.

Jonathan Gates from Kaimuki High School and Alexia Kwok from McKinley High School will represent Hawaii in the 46th Annual United States Senate Youth Program.

Gates and Kwok will participate in an intensive study of U.S. Government, in particular, the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Senator Inouye says this invaluable experience will "deepen the students' understanding of how the Senate and the federal government works."

The United States Senate Youth Program is funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.

Each delegate will receive a $5,000 college scholarship.
