MANOA (KHNL) -- Former Warriors football coach June Jones will have to pay big money to leave the University of Hawaii.

Jones' contract says he is obligated to pay the school, more than $400,000 dollars in "liquidated damages."

That's about half of his salary, because his contract doesn't end until June 30th.

On Monday, Jones announced he was leaving UH after nine seasons.

He'll be paid about $2 million a year as head coach of Southern Methodist University.
