Times Strike May Come to End with Proposal

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- There may be an end in sight to the Times strike that is now in its third week.

Officials with Times say they delivered a proposal Monday night to striking workers and they believe union members are likely voting on it Tuesday.

The dispute centers around medical coverage for employees with serious illnesses or injuries that place them on long-term leave.

The walkout involves more than 100 meat and fish cutters, deli workers and utility clerks.

The picketers took the day off Tuesday from walking to discuss management's offer.
