Couple Welcomes First Baby of 2008

KONA (KHNL) -- A Big Island couple celebrated the birth of a bouncing baby boy, the first baby born on New Year's Day at Kona Community Hospital. 

Carlos CiFuentes and Marielos Montes of Kailua-Kona welcomed their newborn son, Carlos Keala CiFuentes-Montes at 3:21 PM on January 1, 2008.

The baby weighed six pounds, ten ounces and is 17 inches tall.

Community merchants and individuals donated gifts and baby packages to the new parents.
