Shoppers Find Last Minute Gifts at Swap Meet

HALEIWA (KHNL) -- Only four shopping days left until Christmas and the Aloha Stadium swap meet is extending it's hours for shoppers to take advantage of some big bargains.

There's more going on at the Aloha Stadium other than football this weekend.

"They were having the swap meet open beyond Saturdays and Sundays so I had to take that opportunity," said swap shopper Bill Schisler.

Returning swap shopper Perry Antolin said, "You can have better deals than the big malls and find basically the same things too and if your lucky maybe half the price and cheaper."

The swap meet is offering free admission until Christmas eve and by 10:00 Friday morning, over 700 cars had already entered the gates.

"At the malls, it's fighting all the crowds, the parking and everything. Over here it's a lot, you don't have to fight through the crowds and parking," Antolin said.

Antolin thinks it's a great place to find authentic Hawaiian food and trinkets and that's why he brought along his daughter.

"I wanted to buy my boyfriend a Ukulele from Hawaii, " Chantel Antolin said. "In Las Vegas they don't really have a swap meet, it's kind of like junk. Over here has more stuff and more selection."

Now through Monday, the twice-weekly swap meet is open every day from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Aloha Stadium.

The swap meet will close at 1:00 PM on Sunday before the Hawaii Bowl.
