WASHINGTON, D.C. (KHNL) -- It's a move U.S. Representative Neil Abercrombie says could make the country more energy efficient.
The House gave final passage to the Energy Independence and Security Act Tuesday.
The Bill is aimed at making vehicles, home appliances and businesses more energy efficient.
"The earth has only a finite amount of energy resources and we must use them and manage them wisely," said Abercrombie. "This Energy Bill is a very belated, very limited step in the right direction."
The Energy Bill also created a grant program that would allow Hawaii to develop their own energy efficiency projects.
