Coast Guard Airlifts Injured Honolulu-Based Fisherman

KAHULUI, Maui (KHNL) -- The Coast Guard hoisted a 43-year-old man from a Honolulu-based fishing vessel about 130 miles southeast of the Big Island Tuesday morning.

Coast Guard officials say at about 8:00 AM, a medical technician lifted the injured fisherman, suffering from a near-severed pinkie finger, and taken to Maui.

The man was transferred to the Honolulu Medical Service.
