WAILUKU, Maui (KHNL) -- The following is an update of County of Maui services and facilities:
County Bus Services: Currently operating except between Uwapo Road and Kaonoulu Road in Kihei
Traffic Signals: Flashing lights at Azeka's and South Kihei Road, Kamehameha and Wakea Avenues, Alamaha Street and Wakea Avenue.
County Parks: All parks, including Waiehu Golf Course, are currently closed.
Haleakala National Park: Currently closed due to weather conditions and debris on the roads.
Landfills: Central Maui Landfill is open; however, due to weather and muddy conditions the public is urged to wait until the weather improves before coming to the landfill. No green waste is being accepted due to flooding-related closure of EKO Compost. The Lanai Landfill is closed; Molokai Landfill is open until noon today.
Trash: Refuse was picked up except for certain routes in Kihei and Kula that are currently inaccessible.
DMV: Kihei and Pukalani Satellite offices are closed due to lack of electricity. Lanai is closed today; scheduled to open next week Tuesday and Wednesday.
The main Service Center, Molokai and satellites in Lahaina and Hana are open for service. Info.: 270-7363.
Cancellations: Regularly scheduled meetings of county Boards and Commissions are being rescheduled. The General Plan Advisory Committee and Cultural Resources Commission (Lahaina) meetings have been canceled.
The public is asked to report any weather-related damages by calling Maui Civil Defense at 270-7620 or 270-7285. The information collected is critical to the overall damage assessment being conducted for Maui County. For recorded road closures and weather advisories, call 986-1200.
